Dear All! The Élménykülönítmény (Troop of Philanthropists) is the charity runners’ community of the Bátor Tábor (Camp of Courage). The purpose of charity is to provide/ensure free of charge camping opportunity for the children and families with complete medical care. The Bátor Tábor Foundation in Hatvan (Hungary) has been organizing therapeutic recreation camps for seriously ill children (with oncologic and chronic illnesses) and their families for 15 years. It hosts 1000 campers in a year. Both the volunteers and the campers call it as Wonderland because most of the children have the possibility for camping here for the very first time, try out many interesting programs (e.g. canoeing, horse riding, high ropes) and make unforgettable memories with their peers. They can have a lot of fun, success and reinforcement – all things they did not experience during the long and painful hospital treatments. I attended the camp as a volunteer (called ‘Cimbora’) for several times and I have seen the miracle, how the silent children overcome their fears, rebuild their self-confidence by adventures and become vivid children again. I offer my race kilometers for symbolic adoption – for even the price of a coffee or a cinema ticket. Their fight is about an illness, while mine is about the first 21 km of my life.
