This New Year's Eve running a marathon distance came as an idea to a young mother with more or less significant overweight. I had only tiny clues how hard the 10 months of intensive running training might be. However, I knew that besides commitment, persistence, diligence and faith I'm going to need a purpose, a sense of making something worthwhile. Otherwise I would definitely give up. That's how the idea of charity run came to me in the early days after my decision. A few months later I have chosen to join The Troop of Philanthropists of the Bátor Tábor (Camp of Courage) Why them? I believe that every single human being deserves to live in Wonderland, a unique place where Fun, Ease, Joyful Work, Free Self-expression and Selflessness are the five members of the king's council. Most of us were given the chance to build our own Wonderland step-by-step, brick after brick, it is only a matter of choice. However, there are children who rely on our help. I believe that Bátor Tábor is an existing Wonderland for scores of children and adults, where collective selfless work and children's laugh unleash fantastic energy. Being a mother of two, I know how important it is to see a child playing in oblivious happiness; succeed; be exhilarated. It's unquestionable that I wish more and more children with cancer, diabetes, haemophilia, and JRA could join Bátor Tábor and have fun for a week in their therapeutic recreational camp. So the decision has been made: I dedicate my Marathon run on the 10th of November for this cause. I will grab the barrow, some mortar, a few bricks to help their Wonderland to be built with all means I have. It is very important to me that this way I may build my own Wonderland as well. Should you adopt a kilometre in my run, I wish for the same feeling for you.
