Four women. Four different ages, four different lives and four very different personalities. What brings us together is Eger, wine, friendship and, now, running too. It all started with a conversation this summer at the Eger Wine Region Festival. Egri Borbarát Hölgyek suggested that we should take part in the SPAR Marathon. Running was well outside the comfort zone for all of us, which is probably exactly why we said yes. And that’s how SPARkling Girls powered by Juhász was born. Petra, Döníz, Blanka and Ágnes. Three families, three generations. We are all training separately, fitting our runs around our very different lives, but on 11 October we will come together to run the marathon as a relay team. Because we can all achieve a lot on our own, but together we can do so much more. And if we are going to take on something that challenges us, we would love it to mean something for others too. That is why, as a team, we decided to support Bátor Tábor. The children we are fundraising for did not choose the challenges they are facing. Bátor Tábor helps make sure that illness does not take away the things that should simply be part of being a child. Having adventures, making friends, laughing, building confidence, finding courage and discovering that wonderful feeling of “I can do this.” Alongside our own donations, we are adding our kilometres too. And if you can, we would love you to add something as well. Because just as a marathon is made up of thousands of individual steps, lots of small acts of support can add up to something much bigger. They can help these children feel a little freer, a little braver and, sometimes, simply be children.
