In 42 days, I will run the first marathon of my life, naturally wearing a purple T-shirt in the colors of Bátor Tábor. 💜 That day I will run 42 kilometers, which will be no small challenge for me. Although I’ve been regularly lacing up my running shoes and enthusiastically putting in the miles for the past 10 years, I have never covered such a long distance before. But this achievement cannot compare to the strength and perseverance of the children and their families whom I have met at Bátor Tábor. 💪 I surely have at least 42 reasons to support the work of Bátor Tábor. At the top of the list are the superheroes we call campers. They are the ones who are not afraid to try new things, while motivating and encouraging each other along the way. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ Courage and challenges – behind these words, there is a wealth of hidden meaning, often resources and inner strengths that are not even visible at first glance. 🌥️ I would love for my big run to contribute to ensuring that Bátor Tábor can continue to provide the framework and opportunities for these extraordinary people to gain life-changing experiences. Will you join my cheering squad? 📣

An enforced rest before the marathon

Unexpected situations always happen – especially when you put yourself into something new, where you don’t yet know how you’ll react. My right ankle has now decided: “Fruzsi, thanks, that’s enough – I’m checking out for a bit.” Unfortunately, it developed an inflammation that made running painful just 3 weeks before the marathon. I’ve been resting it for over a week now, while strengthening it in other ways, hoping that by race day I’ll be fully recovered. This week I’ve managed a few short test runs, which give me hope: maybe in a week I won’t just be able to start, but also ...

Yeses and noes⚖️

⚖️ While preparing for the marathon, I’m facing a lot of sacrifices, careful planning, and often long, uncomfortable training runs. Of course, all of this was my own decision – but this period still comes with compromises. Many times I have to say no to things I would enjoy doing, and yes to things I would rather skip. ❤️‍🩹 For children who need hospital treatment, however, their everyday lives are not determined by their own choices. Their days are shaped by the medical team and strict protocols. They don’t get to decide whether to say yes or no to a medical test. The team at Bátor ...

Miracle-Working Locations at Bátor Tábor (Part 2)

🐕🌳 As I prepare for the big challenge, my two greatest supporters during my runs are my dog, Hekla, and nature. 🐎🌱 At the camp, children and volunteers are also surrounded by a wonderful natural environment, where they can experience firsthand what it feels like to connect with another living being. During the equestrian program, children have the opportunity to build strong focus and a meaningful bond with an animal in a safe setting. In the process, they not only gain confidence in riding but also learn more about themselves. Meanwhile, through the fun games of the horse-assistant ...
